Our cottage “Terrand”, in rural Geluwe, is situated 10 miles from the touristical town of Ypres, 17 miles from Heuvelland, 20 miles from Lille, 30 miles form Bruges, 35 miles from the North Sea, 40 miles from Ghent, … Our cottage is extremely suited for those who want to leave their stressed life behind for a while and for those who want to enjoy the countryside. Although many touristical places and attractions can also be found in the West of Flanders. There’s a lot to experience in the West of Flanders. People who like culture or the countryside, families with young children, everybody can have a splendid holiday here. A stay in the countryside can give you a peaceful feeling. And all this in the middle of the sacred ground of Ypres, where thousands of British soldiers gave their lives during the First World War. Ideal home for those who prefer not to climb stairs. Bathroom and one bedroom are on the first floor.
Review Kate T. Terrand is a lovely, comfortable,well maintained property situated in peaceful countryside. It is close to war graves, battlegrounds and museums and within distance of cities. We came for the moving remembrance service at Ypres but also found time to purchase some unusual Belgium beers at cheap prices! It is ideal cycling country. Terrand has a lovely garden and plenty of off road parking. It is the best equipped house we have ever stayed in and for dark evenings has a flat screen tv, music system and loads of leaflets to plan the next days activities. It is only an hours drive from Dunquerque. Finally, the best thing was the kindness of the owners;nothing was too much trouble. Despite clear instructions we still managed to get lost. Stien and Marc came to find us and escorted us to the house, gave us a guided tour, showed us how everything worked and left us a bottle of wine. We will recommend this to friends and relatives and would love to stay longer next time.
